OMG (initialism of "Officially Miss Guided ") was an American teenage girl group, initially known as The OMG Girlz.[1] Their name is a play on words; it represents being young ladies "Miss" that are "Guided" in positive ways.[1] Formed in 2009, by Tameka "Tiny" Faamoe, the Atlanta-based girl group performed publicly for the first time on an episode of BET's Tiny and Toya reality television series.[2] They also have made appearances on the 2012 series T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle.[1] Their mission was to inspire throughout the world and let them know they could stand together as friends,[1] teens, and young women. Their singles "Can't Stop Loving You", "Where the Boys at", and "Gucci This (Gucci That)" have been their most famous singles with an estimate of 8 million views on Soundcloud and YouTube. In 2015, the girls announced that they would no longer pursue a career as a trio.
History
Prior to the group's debut, Zonnique "Star" Pullins was a member of the duo QT Posse, with QT Jazz.[3][4][5] Shortly after the release of their first single "Ain't Nobody" in 2010, Reginae "Baby Carter" Carter, daughter of rapper Lil Wayne and Toya Carter, departed from the group.[3] A few months later, the OMG Girlz' second single, "Haterz" (stylized as H.A.T.E.R.Z) was released.[6] OMG later performed the single on Good Day Atlanta.[7] The group downsized once more after Lourdes "Lolo" Rodriguez, sister of Bahja Rodriguez, left the group, given her young age. Bahja was also known as the lead singer of the group.[8] However, after a well accepted online search, during which time the group’s fourth single "So Official" was released, Breaunna Womack became the group's newest and third member due to finding her on a YouTube video dancing to Beyoncé's song "Ego".[9]
In 2011, the girls were added to line-up of the Scream Tour: Next Generation, by way of a national contest, which featured Diggy Simmons, Mindless Behavior, Jacob Latimore, Jawan Harris and TK-N-Cash. This tour helped the group gain fans across the country. Their first single as a trio, "Gucci This (Gucci That)" was a featured song on the tour. After the tour was over, in December 2011, The OMG Girlz were signed to Interscope/Streamline Records via Pretty Hustle/Grand Hustle (labels by Tameka "Tiny" Harris & Tip "T.I." Harris).
The single "Gucci This (Gucci That)" was released as their first official single under Interscope/Streamline Records, available for public download on February 28, 2012. Their second single "Where The Boys At?" which was written by fellow young artists Lil Will and Trevante was released on June 12, 2012, They also released their single "Lover Boy". In 2013, the group made a video for their song "Baddie". The group, also made a cameo appearance in T.I.'s video for "Hello. In fall of 2013, their singles "Cant Stop Loving You", and "Baddie" where released. In the summer of 2013, two days before they were scheduled to begin the All Around The World tour with teen male pop group Mindless Behavior, they released three singles titled "Do You Remember", "Incredimazable", and "Ridin' Slow". In the spring of 2014, the group released their first mature single called "Boy It's Over" (which samples the R&B group Jagged Edge single "Girl It's Over").
Solo careers
On March 12, 2015, OMG had unexpectedly announced that they would no longer be pursuing a career as a group on their Official Instagram account. Since the disbandment, each member has since released solo projects. Bahja "Beauty" Rodriguez has released three singles titled "Jealous Type", "Lipstick" and "Next One" via ITunes and Soundcloud. On June 23, 2015, Zonnique "Star" Pullins released the single "Nun For Free" featuring Atlantic Records rapper Young Thug.[10] She has released three additional singles in 2015 — "Cool Kids",[11] "My Nigga",[12] and "Can't Trust Em".[13] In 2016 she released the single, "Worst Friday".[14] Zonnique released her debut EP, Love Jones on March 24, 2017.[15] Breaunna "Babydoll" Womack has released a song featuring Mindless Behavior member Princeton titled "Don't Believe In Love". In July 2015, Bahja released a video on her YouTube account, introducing her as a solo artist. Also, reasoning on why OMG had disbanded.
