Zen 2 is the codename for AMD's eventual Zen successor (initially called Zen+).[3][4][5] Zen 2 is expected to bring a slight increase in instructions per clock over Zen, but not nearly as large as the jump from Excavator to Zen.[6] In May 2017, AMD CEO Lisa Su announced that AMD will tape out the 7nm Zen 2 architecture in 2017 and begin production in the second half of 2018.[7]
