Yurina Hirate (平手 友梨奈, born 25 June 2001) is a Japanese idol singer, a member of the idol group Keyakizaka46.

Career

Yurina Hirate was born on 25 June 2001.[1]

She has been the choreography center of the idol group Keyakizaka46 for the first four singles.[2][3] At the time when she was selected as the center for the first time (for Keyakizaka46's debut single "Silent Majority", released in April 2016 on Sony Records), she was 14 and was the youngest member of the girl group.[4][5]

In June 2016 she debuted as an actress on TV (in Keyakizaka46's TV dorama titled Who Killed Daigoro Tokuyama? (徳山大五郎を誰が殺したか?).[6]

The second Keyakizaka46's single "Sekai ni wa Ai Shika Nai" (released in August 2016) contained Hirate's solo song[7] (as one the coupling tracks).

On 8 October 2016, at the GirlsAward 2016 Autumn/Winter show, she had her catwalk debut.[8][9]

In January 2017 she and Rika Watanabe (also from Keyakizaka46) appeared (as models) in the women's fashion magazine Larme (LARME) for the first time.[10]

The 2017/14 issue of the manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump (released on March 2) marked her first solo magazine cover.[11] In the 2017/16 issue, she again had a solo cover.[12]

In March 2017, she graduated from junior high school.[12]

Since April 17, 2017, she is a regular on a popular radio show for teenagers titled "School of Lock!" on Tokyo FM.[13][14]

Hirate stars in one of the lead roles in Zankoku na Kankyakutachi (残酷な観客達), a new TV dorama to be premiered on Nippon TV from May 18, 2017.

Popularity

Yurina Hirate has been dubbed a "rebirth of Momoe Yamaguchi", "a masterpiece beyond Atsuko Maeda"[5] and called one of the most attractive idols of 2016.[15]
