Yassine Jaber
Yassine Jaber is a moderate Shia Lebanese member of parliament representing the Nabatiyeh district.
As the Minister of Economy from 1996 to 1998, he was part of Hariri Government for the Reconstruction of Lebanon after 17 years of civil war.[1][2]
He is considered as a liberal politician who is known for his advocacy of social justice, peace and sustainable economic development.[3] [4]
He was the first Lebanese Minister of Economy to consider social and psychological cost of war and promote peace through economic development.[5]
He is also a vocal supporter of human rights through equitable economic development in other countries such as South Africa [6]
He holds a degree in Economics and Business from the American University of Beirut.[7] He promoted open trade with the United States [8]
