History

YachtWorld.com was established in March 1995. In 2000 it became part of boats.com, Inc. and in September 2004, Boats.com, Inc was purchased by Trader Publishing Company,[2] a joint business venture of Landmark Media Enterprises and Cox Enterprises. In September 2006, Landmark Media Enterprises and Cox Enterprises split the assets of Trader Publishing and YachtWorld became part of Dominion Marine Media, a subsidiary of Dominion Enterprises, LLC which was in turn a subsidiary of Landmark Media Enterprises. On August 1st, 2016 Apax Partners acquires Dominion Marine Media[3] and on February 17, 2017, Dominion Marine Media (DMM) is rebranded to Boats Group, LLC.[4] Today, Sam Fulton is CEO at Boats Group which includes the leading marine brands of YachtWorld, Boat Trader, boats.com, Cosas de Barcos and YachtCloser.[5] June 1, 2017, Boats Group including YachtWorld decides Miami is the place to be, anchors headquarters.[6]

In 2012, YachtWorld launched an iPad application.[7] and in 2015 relaunched its websites to be full responsive.

YachtWorld Market Index

Starting 2011, YachtWorld released the inaugural YachtWorld.com Market Index Report, providing a unique and comprehensive view of the marine industry in the United States and globally called the YachtWorld Market Index. This uses sold boat information by YachtWorld.com customers based on the number of yachts sold in each of the markets in which YachtWorld.com operates.[8] The YachtWorld Index is published both digitally and in print and is aimed at journalists, the media and marine industry as part of the company's public relations activity.

YachtWorld Market Index reports are widely used to provide insight into buyer habits and changing economies.[9]
