XEFB-TDT is a television station located in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. It is known as Televisa Monterrey and carries Televisa's local programs for Monterrey, including local news, sports and entertainment programming.
History
XEFB signed on in 1958 on channel 3. The station was the first local station in Monterrey (joining XHX-TV channel 10, its sister started in 1955) and boasted the first Ampex video tape equipment in Mexico. It converted to color in 1970.[2]
The station moved to channel 2 in 1984 to allow XHWX, a new Imevisión station, to sign on the air.
In 2005, most of XEFB's local programming and focus moved to XHCNL channel 34. It returned in 2016 as part of XEFB's move to virtual channel 4.
Digital television and repeaters
XEFB has maintained a repeater in Saltillo, Coahuila, for decades. From 2005 to 2016, it relayed XHCNL instead of XEFB. This repeater broadcasts from Saltillo with 43 kW of effective radiated power.[3]

Analog shutdown and National re-numbering scheme
On September 24, 2015, XEFB shut off its analog signal; its digital signal remained on its pre-transition UHF channel 45[4]; However, it requires to move from pre-transition UHF channel 45 to post-transition channel 15, which the channel 45 is among the mid-high band UHF channels (38-51) that will be removed from broadcasting use. In addition, a repeater was built on Cerro El Mirador, in order to continue service to certain portions of Monterrey that cannot receive Televisa' signals from Cerro de la Silla.[5] It added the "-TDT" suffix as a result of the transition
On October 25, 2016, a year later; XEFB-TDT moved its virtual channel from 2 to 4 as part of the national re-numbering scheme; as the virtual channel 2 is reserved to Televisa's "Las Estrellas" network (taken down by its sister station XHX-TDT).
