Wirex’s two-way debit cards with the ability to both buy and sell bitcoin accepts account top up and loading via bank transfer, PayPal and many types of alternative payment methods (APMs).

History

Wirex announced rebranding from E-Coin in February 2016.[6][7][8][9] E-Coin is a bitcoin debit card provider without remittances or mobile banking services.

Funding

In 2015, E-Coin successfully crowdfunded ~$200K (£130K) from 93 investors via BnktotheFuture,[10][11][12] an online investment platform.

In March 2017, Wirex has raised $3 million in a Series A funding round[13][14] from the Fintech fund established by Japanese financial giant SBI Group.
