Windsor is a train station in Windsor, California built by Northwestern Pacific Railroad in the early 1900s. Currently the station is served by buses of Sonoma County Transit and Mendocino Transit Authority. The station last served train passengers on the Northwestern Pacific Railroad in the late 1950s.[2]

In 2008, the station building was rebuilt by the city for $1.4 million as an intermodal station in anticipation of serving passengers on the then-proposed Sonoma–Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) commuter rail line.[2] Service to Windsor Station was not included in the first phase of SMART, set to begin service in 2017.[4]

Bus service to Sonoma County Airport station is provided by Sonoma County Transit under contract by SMART.[1]

As of April 2017 full funding has not been secured to extend SMART north of Sonoma County Airport station.[5] The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit authority is planning to extend service to Windsor station and north to the Healdsburg station and Cloverdale Depot as part of a further phase of construction.[5]
