William Jackson & Son Limited (trading as the William Jackson Food Group) is a British food manufacturer.

History

The William Jackson Food Group (WJFG) was founded in Hull by William Jackson when he opened his first store in 1851.[1]

The first bakery opened in 1891 and the current Jackson's bakery on Derringham Street opened in 1907.[1]

In 1974 Butlin's leisure company asked the bakery to create a Yorkshire pudding for its holiday camps and so Aunt Bessie's brand was born, now producing 20 million Yorkshire puddings a week..[2]

The company acquired Abel & Cole in 2012 and The Food Doctor in 2016.[3]

Current operations

The company comprises 5 subsidiary companies and The Ferguson Fawsitt Arms, Walkington including Aunt Bessie’s (frozen food), Jacksons Bakery (sandwich bread and Yorkshire’s Champion Bread), Myfresh (freshly prepared salad and veg), Abel&Cole (organic food delivery) and The Food Doctor (healthy snacks).
