William Cloyd, Sr. (2 May 1933 - 8 August 2017) was an American architect and custom home builder from Santa Clarita, California. In 1978, Cloyd bought land from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, with some of the acreage being the part of Gene Autry's Melody Ranch. The land was later developed with upscale homes and equestrian trails.[4]

Career

William Cloyd, a Santa Clarita resident, built many of the homes in Sand Canyon. Cloyd’s Sand Canyon homes are typically marked by Tudor-esque exteriors, high ceilings, exposed wood beaming, textured plaster and beveled glass windows.[5]

Later he built The Preserve in Sand Canyon with son Bill Cloyd, Jr., that was later sold to D. R. Horton.
