Wesley Glass (born January 28, 1992), professionally known as Wheezy, is an American record producer. [1][2] Wheezy has worked very closely with Young Thug and Shad da God, the latter which he works up till this day. The basis of his stage name comes from his first name, Wesley and gotten the idea for "Weezy", but shortly changed it to his current name after realizing that it caused controversy of being affiliated with other rappers.
Early life
Wheezy started making beats at the age of 15, for his brother who went by TG Montana who taught him how to work FL Studio. He then started working with Shad da God, who previously went by Rich Kid Shawty, an original member of Rich Kidz. Wheezy has gotten tons of production advices from big producer such as Metro Boomin, Southside, Sonny Digital and Lex Luger which he has gotten the ability to collab with.[2]
Production style and influences
Wheezy uses FL Studio, along with the M-Audio Oxygen 88 keyboard. Glass often utilizes samples, especially vintage sounds. He says he "blends" his snares. Glass states that his influences lists Drumma Boy, Shawty Redd and DJ Toomp, which he describes as having their own distinctive styles, along with WondaGurl, who he has been recently interested in.[2]
