In June 2011, after Scuderia Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari took a Red Bull Show Car run to the Chinese city state, demoing a Red Bull around Lung Wo Road and performing a number of short sprints, burnouts and donuts. Wesley Wan told the South China Morning Post. "This is the first step in gaining the support of the people, we want to raise the exposure of F1 by staging this live show, and I hope it will lead to Hong Kong hosting a grand prix race one day. My dream is that Hong Kong, like Singapore, Malaysia and China, will be a stop on the grand prix circuit. And as far as a street circuit is concerned, if Monte Carlo and Singapore can have it, why can't Hong Kong?"
Wan also revealed that Hong Kong was sounded out about hosting an F1 race back in 1997, before the former British colony was returned to the Chinese. However the offer was turned down.Wesley Wan [4]
Personal life
Wesley Wan has divorced his former wife Tang Do Yee (唐度怡). Tang left the house on 30 April 2006.[5]
But Wan continues to occupy the house they shared at Chung Hom Kok, which is valued at HK$50–60 million in 2008. Ms. Tang and Mr. Wan then begin a legal battle for the ownership of the property. The court ordered Wesley Wan to pay rent from the beginning of 2007 until the case is decided, at about HK$150,000 per month. He had to pay an interim fee, totaling HK$2.356 million to the court, which consists of rent from January 2007 to June 2008.[5]
Wesley Wan's girlfriend Lok Mei Mei gave birth to a girl, Cloudia, on 30 August 2010.[6]
Wan then invited his girlfriend Lok Mei Mei and their baby to join him. Ms. Tang and her mother's company then filed a lawsuit in court to get Ms. Lok and the baby to move out. Lok Mei Mei is the younger sister of TVB's artists manager Virginia Lok.[7] The decision on the case will be on 19 January 2012.[8] The two parties settled on 19 January 2012. Wesley Wan agreed to pay HK$7million as rent for the mansion, while Lok Mei Mei agreed to pay HK$1.4million for her rental for one year. Wan will move out of the mansion within 4 months.[9]
