Washed red blood cells

Washed red blood cells are red blood cells which have had most of the plasma, platelets and white blood cells removed and replaced with an electrolyte solution.[1] They are used in people with IgA deficiency who need a blood transfusion.[1] They can only be kept for up to a day.[1]
