Sannie Charlotte Carlson (born 11 April 1970), better known as Whigfield[3] and also as Naan,[4] is a Danish born, Italian-based Eurodance singer. Her song "Saturday Night" was a hit in 1994.[1] She worked with Italian producer Larry Pignagnoli.[1] "Saturday Night" entered the Top 5 in Italy as well as in other European markets in October 1994.[5] Her single "Another Day" also managed to peak at No. 3 in Italy where she was then based.[6] The single "Another Day" & "Think of You" also did well in a number of other markets where it entered the Top 10 including UK, Switzerland, Norway and her native Denmark.[7][8][9]

Early life

Carlson was born in Skælskør, Denmark. She spent several years in Africa as a child before returning to her native country. Before singing Carlson worked as model and studied music.[1] Carlson played in a jazz duo[3] before she met the producer Larry Pignagnoli and took on the name "Whigfield" as a tribute to her piano teacher.[1][10]
