Walnut Beach

Walnut Beach is a beach located in Milford, Connecticut. It was founded in 1999.

From Walnut Beach you can see the island known as Charles Island. A sand bridge forms during low tide everyday and during the summer thousands of people cross the bridge and explore Charles Island. People are restricted to go inside of the " Forest Area" but they can walk around the shore and they must come back before high tide. Charles Island has a great history. It was founded in 1614 by a man named Adriaen Block. Captain Kid is an old folktale legend and it is said that he visited that Island. Believe it or not Charles Island was previously inhabited by a man named John Harris in 1835, ( this was the first home built on Charles Island.)Charles Island was used for many things. It was used for a summer home, a yacht club, an amusement park, a submarine chaser base during World War 1 and a reformatory and nuclear power plant. Charles Island has also been used in numerous books.

Recently a walkway was built on Walnut Beach. The walkway is about two miles and crosses almost every part of the beach, reaching as far as Silver Sands beach.
