Wallace Strobel

Wallace Strobel (June 5, 1922 – August 27, 1999) was an American Army First Lt. in the 101st Airborne's 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment during World War II.

He appeared in full battle dress in one of the most iconic images from WWII. A now famous photo with General Eisenhower on the eve of their jump into Normandy on D-Day. The famous picture captured Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower speaking to paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division on the eve of the D-Day invasion and remains one of the most compelling and classic images from World War II, as well as one of the most famous of Gen. Eisenhower. In 1990^[1] the U.S. Postal Service issued a stamp using this photograph of the historic moment.
