WPLP-LP ("Bulldog 93-3") is a radio station licensed to Athens, Georgia, United States. Founded in 2014, the station plays a personality-driven Adult Album Alternative ("Triple A") music format, and covers the metro Athens area. It transmits from atop the Fred Building in historic downtown Athens. Despite its music-intense format, Bulldog 93.3 features many local shows, including Hope with Keith Keppner, To Your Health with Dr. Jean Lawrence, Sunday Night with Dusty Blades, and Solid Gold with Paul Francis. The station's slogan is "The Sound of Athens", and its core audience includes upwardly mobile, family-oriented people aged 30 to 50 in the Athens metropolitan area, with an emphasis on Athens and Watkinsville.

History

WPLP-LP launched on February 20, 2014 as "Bulldog 93 3 - Athens Community Rock Station," featuring an Active Rock format. This format featured an all-local DJ lineup including Rob Belton on middays for "The Lunchrox," Chris Muniz during Afternoon Drive "The Traffic Jam," and rotating evening DJs on "Athens Tonight." Weekend shows included Chuck Griffin on "Weekends With Chuck," and "The 3-Hour Power Hour with Dusty Blades." While the legacy Bulldog 93.3 rock format enjoyed a successful run, particularly among men aged 18–34, station management decided to change direction and move toward a more mainstream format that would reach a broader, more family-oriented listener base.

On Thanksgiving Day 2016 the station began stunting an all-classic Christmas music format, and on December 26, 2016 the new format was launched. Despite the station's name remaining the same, all branding, the slogan, and the DJ lineup changed when the new format was launched.

Throughout the station's history it has remained funded exclusively through local Athens-area sponsors, and the DJ lineup consists of all local personalities. The station is owned, operated, and programmed in Athens.
