Voncariana
The Voncariana (in Latin: Dioecesis Voncarianensis) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church.[1][2][3]
The site of the cathedra of Voncariana is unknown. It is presumed to have been an ancient Roman town, the remains of which are represented by ruins at Boghasi in modern Algeria.[4] It is known to have been in the Roman province of Mauritania Cesariense.[5]
Only one bishop from ancient Voncariana is known, Victor, who was among the Catholic bishops who attended a synod in Carthage called by the Vandal King Huneric in 484AD.[6]
Today Voncariana survives as a titular bishopric and the current bishop is Victor Antonio Tamayo Betancourt, auxiliary bishop of Barranquilla.
