Vivekananda College, established in 1950 as Barisha College, is an undergraduate college in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is affiliated with the University of Calcutta.[3][4]
In June 1956, Vivekananda College was sponsored by the State Government and upgraded to Degree College status, and renamed to Vivekananda College, in honour of Swami Vivekananda.[5] Due to a lack of space, the college moved from Barisha in 1959 to Thakurpukur, with the previous site being used for the women's section Vivekananda College for Women.[6][7]
