Vishnu Savara (born June 1, 1950) is a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, an Indian political party. He is the son of Smt. Savara and Shri. Ravi Savara, who belong to a family of farmers residing at Village-Galtare, Wada, an area under the Palghar district.[1] He is a Cabinet Minister for Tribal Development[2] in Government of Maharashtra,[3][4] and was elected to Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Wada (ST) constituency in 1990, 1995, 1999, and 2004.[5] In 2009, after delimitation, he contested the assembly election from Bhiwandi Rural (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (ST) reservation and won.[6] In the 2014 assembly election, he contested from Vikramgad (Vidhan Sabha constituency) seat and won.[6]
Early life and education
Savara completed his bachelor's degree in commerce (B.Com) in 1973, after which he started his career as a senior cashier in Dairy Project Dapchari-Dahanu (1973 – 1976).
In 1976, he was selected for the SBI through a competitive exam and was posted at Boisar, Talasari (1976 – 1980).
Political career
- Since starting at the university he has been an active member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh where he began as an ordinary worker.
- In 1980, he left his existing job with SBI and started as a full-time employee of BJP.
- In 1980, he was first named as candidate from 59-Wada assembly constituency[7] (Now 134- Bhiwandi Rural (Vidhan Sabha constituency)) for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the BJP.
- In Maharashtra Assembly Election – 1990, 1995, 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014, he was elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly, from 59-Wada assembly constituency (Now 134- Bhiwandi Rural (Vidhan Sabha constituency)) for consecutive five terms viz in 1990,1995,1999, 2004, 2009 & in 2014 from Vikramgad (Vidhan Sabha constituency)).
- On several occasions, Savara defeated his opponent by a margin of more than 45% of total votes.

- Extension of Panchayats to Scheduled Area (PESA) – in that 5% (of budget of Tribal Government) to be allocated to the 2835 Nos. Gram Panchayats from scheduled area.
- Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Amrut Ahar Yojna
- Launching of E Scholarship for Tribal students.
- Clean India – Cleaning of Residence-School programme
- Setting up Toll-free Help Care Number: 1(800)-267-0007 for Tribal Boys & Girls.
- Issue of Online Cast Verification Certificate (CVC) to Tribal people
- Bandhkam Vayvasthapan Kaksha – for Government Hostel & Residential School.
- Approval of Centralized kitchen for Hostel students at Kambalgaon (Palghar) & Mundegaon (Nashik).
- Krida Prabodhini Yojna – to cheer the sports person & enhance their enthusiasm to participate in sport.
New Initiatives taken
- Implementation of a scheme under Central Government Fund supplementation, Tie-up with Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA) which includes 1000 villages (from Gadhchiroli, Palghar & Pune) for Project on Climate Smart Villages.
- Project planning of Water Management & Climate Smart Agriculture, by Government of Maharashtra with the assistance of Wageningen University and Research Centre, Netherland.
- Initiatives taken for providing lights to Remote areas – for Tribal people through Saur Urja Prakalp.
- Grant of Scholarships & consideration of additional 5% marks to the students participating in sports at State level
- Warli Aadivasi Hut Project in an area of 6 acres at Manor, Palghar – for maintenance & publicity of Art-Culture of Tribal people.
