Viktor Đerek (born 8 March 2000), referred to mononymously as Viksi, is a Croatian singer-songwriter and photographer. His musical career began at age of 8, after having a chance to perform live at Marin Držić Theatre, covering songs by artists such as Lady Gaga and Adele. In 2008 he even signed up a contract with record label based in Sweden.

Life

Early life

He was born in Split, Croatia on 8 March 2000 to a Catholic family and the majority of childhood he grew up in Dubrovnik. Viktor wrote his first song at the age of 8 for his best friend. He attended art school Luka Sorkočević in Dubrovnik, where he finished solo singing in 2012. He came into limelight after winning the music show for teens called “Republika” in 2012. His photographs were so significant that he became a photographer of Croatia's national tourist organization in 2013.[1] Later in 2014, he also performed ‘Summertime Sadness’ and ‘Chandelier’ on HRT - Radio Dubrovnik.[2]

Personal life

His biggest inspiration when it comes to his music is Lady Gaga. He is known as an activist for the preservation of nature and as a travel guide for the Croatian islands.[3] He is currently residing in Gradac and attending high school in Makarska, Croatia.[4] Today he is popular among the youth generation due to his cute look, attractive smile, and gorgeous personality. He is very hard working and dedicated towards his work.

Career

His talent was recognized by his elementary school teacher and after getting involved in musical theater and quickly developing a love of music and performance, Đerek had a chance to perform live at Marin Držić Theatre. X5 Music Group released several cover songs including "Someone like You" and "Paparazzi".[5]
