Victory Square is a cricket ground in Nelson, Nelson Region, New Zealand.
The first recorded cricket match held on the ground came in December 1862 when Nelson played Wellington.[1] First-class cricket was first played there in February 1875 when Nelson played Wellington. Nelson played six further first-class matches at the ground between 1875 and 1887.[2]
In 1885-86 Nelson beat Wellington by an innings when they dismissed them for 19 in their second innings, and 30 wickets fell for 156 runs.[3] In the final first-class match there, in 1887-88, Nelson beat Wellington by nine wickets when 31 wickets fell for 159 runs and the match was over on the first scheduled day, Boxing Day 1887.[4]
Cricket is still played at the ground. It is the home ground of the Wakatu Cricket Club.[5]
