Victor Li Tzar-kuoi, scion of Hong Kong's richest family, is a businessman, currently the Group Co-Managing Director and Deputy Chairman of CK Hutchison Holdings Limited. He is the elder son of tycoon Li Ka-shing and the brother of Richard Li.[1]
Early years
Born in Hong Kong on 1 August 1964,[2] Victor Li attended the St. Paul's Co-educational College in Hong Kong, and holds a B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering and a M.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford University.[3]
Victor Li was kidnapped in 1996 on his way home after work by notorious gangster "Big Spender" Cheung Tze-keung. Sir Li Ka-shing paid a ransom of HK$1 billion. He is said to have been released after one night.[4] A report was never filed with Hong Kong police. Instead the case was pursued by Mainland authorities, leading to Big Spender's execution, an outcome not possible under Hong Kong law. Rumours circulated of a deal between Sir Li and the Mainland.[4]
