Success in Greece

The band VEGAS is comprised by three members: ZeRaw and Katerina Koukourakis (vocals) and DJ Airth on the decks. VEGAS is the number 1 Greek urban pop music band that for the past eight years have been one of the hottest music groups in the Greek music industry. They were formed in 2009, and the Vegas star of the Lyra constellation was the inspiration for the band’s name.

Since their debut, they are considered pioneering, as well as eccentric artists that set trends in music and fashion with their progressive style. In 2009 they debuted their first album titled “VEGAS” and two singles, “Tous ponai” and “Irthe I stigmi”, that gave them a place in the Top 10 of the official Greek Airplay Chart, and soon after that they reached No1, staying at the top for more than three months for each single.

In 2010 they release their second album, “Season 2”, recorded at the Black Rock Studios in Santorini Island. The album included VEGAS’ first international partnership with Tomer G as well as the songs that really took them off, “Mi stamatas”, “Mi se niazi” and “Fili”, and within a short period of time it went gold.

That same year had two significant achievements in store for VEGAS; they were chosen as the warm up act for Rihanna’s concert, where 10000 people applauded them. In addition, with 7 nominations in 7 different categories at the 2010 Mad TV Video Music Awards, where they won the award for the best Hip Hop/Urban Video clip with their single “tous ponai”. In 2011 their single “Gia sena” becomes a huge radio success and turns the band into a “classic”, giving VEGAS a central position in the pantheon of Greek discography, 2012 is a major step in their career. Their third album, titled “The story so far” comes as a natural evolution to their sound and includes one of their greatest hits, “Pio psila”. This single broke every record, staying in history as the most loved single in that year’s radio shows, while in YouTube it exceeded 25 million views.

Naturally, awards came one after the other; VEGAS are awarded “Band of the Year” at the 2012 Mad Video Music Awards by Vodafone and “The Best Greek Act” by MTV Greece. In 2013, yet another anthem for the group’s fans is released, “Akoma”. The video clip shows footage from their USA tour; it went viral and exceeded in just a few days 4 million views. In the 2013 Mad Video Music Awards by Vodafone VEGAS are nominated in 5 award categories and win the “Best artist in Cyprus” award.

In the end of 2013, restless VEGAS release the “Hilies Fores” single that earned them a 2014 MTV EMA: Best Greek Act nomination. They won the award and became the only Greek artists with two MTV EMA awards.

In 2015, their promised “Yposchesi” album is released, including their greatest hits “Ego to dialexa”, “Akoma”, “Pedia tis Nichtas”, whereas in clubs and radio stations their new hit “Apopse” stands out.

In 2016 VEGAS turned a page in their story, «Κάνουμε τη μέρα – νύχτα και τη νύχτα – μέρα- Δεν πατάμε στη γη, πετάμε στον αέρα- Ό,τι κι αν κάνουν δε μας λυγίζουν- Kim και Kanye δε μας αγγίζουν…» which means “we turn night into day, nothing they do can break us, Kim and Kanye can’t touch us” The “As tous na lene” is Greece’s first lyrics video with actual reel takes. The band is at its most creative period. VEGAS feel the need to try themselves in new sounds and orchestrations and to incorporate the global musical influences they have received. In 2017 this process brought forth their new hot “Pio dinata” single. This song climbed to the first position of the charts in the first week of its release, revealing their huge dynamic and potential.

VEGAS continue to be frontrunners in the Greek music scene; They hold the record in YouTube views with a whopping 91.000.000 ( “To Fili” was the first video in Greece to reach 10 m views and “Pio psila” the first to reach 20m).

They have teamed up with significant Greek artists, in the recording studio as well as in live shows, and they are consistently the standard choice of major sponsors such as Adidas, Bubble Tale, H&M, Red Bull and Eastpak.

One of their greatest dreams has been realized, as they now own their recording studio (www.headroom-studios.com), one of the most modern studios in the Balkans. They have completed numerous tours in Greece, Cyprus, Europe, the Americas and Australia with over 700 sold-out live concerts.

This time, VEGAS are as ready as they can be to outdo themselves, going beyond the Greek borders – why not after all? Besides, their newest single reflects their motto - “Pio dinata” means we are going… Stronger!
