Varun Khaitan

Varun Khaitan (born c.1988) is an Indian entrepreneur and co-founder of UrbanClap, an e-commerce platform that connects local service providers with customers who are in need of their services.[1][2] In February 2017, he was featured on Forbes India's list of "30 Under 30".[3]

Life and career

He was born in India where he had his early education before he proceeded to Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to study Electrical Engineering.[4] Upon graduating from IIT Kanpur in 2009, Khaitan moved to the U.S and had short stints at Qualcomm and the Boston Consulting Group before returning to India in 2013 where, along with long-time friend Abhiraj Bhal, they co-founded Cinema Box which was later scrapped after 6 months.[3] Khaitan and Bhal later met up with Raghav Chandra, a graduate from the University of California, with whom they founded UrbanClap in October 2014 after each of them contributed Rs 1 million to raise the initial capital.[5] The company has since had three rounds of funding up to the tune of $36.6 million two years after it was launched.[5]
