Vale of Pnath (pronounced "Noth") is a Technical death metal band from Denver, Colorado formed in 2006. They are currently signed to Willowtip Records.[1] To date they have released two LPs and an EP. The band takes its name from the eponymous region of HP Lovecraft's Underworld, described in his novella The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath. They are currently on tour with First Fragment and Virvum.[2]

History

The band formed in Denver, Colorado in 2006. They released their debut eponymous EP in 2009 through Tribunal Records. Prior to the physical release, the EP was made available for streaming through its recording studio Flatline Audio's site.[3] The EP was produced by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio Studios in the band's hometown of Denver, Colorado, where Cattle Decapitation recorded Monolith of Inhumanity and Allegaeon recorded Fragments of Form and Function.[4]

In March 2010 the band signed with Willowtip Records and announced they'd be returning Flatline Audio Studios to record their first full length album[5] that album became "The Prodigal Empire".[6]

In August 2015 the band announced that guitarist Eloy Montes (formerly of Flub) joined the band to replace the departing Harrison Patuto of Dissonance in Design.[7]

In May 2016 the band released a single, "Nightmare Phantasm" to promote the release of their sophomore EP "Vale of Pnath II", which was released on June 10, 2016.[8]

Metal Injection gave Vale of Pnath II a 6.5/10 review, calling it a "slowed down, less-technical Abiotic".[9] the album sold 300 units in its first week.[10]
