Vadim Muntagirov
Vadim Muntagirov (born 1990) is a Russian ballet dancer. As of May 2014 he is a principal dancer with the Royal Ballet in London.
Early life
Vadim Muntagirov was born in Chelyabinsk, Russia. Both of his parents were professional dancers.[1] He trained at Perm Ballet School and the Royal Ballet School.[2]
Career
In 2006, Muntagirov entered the Prix de Lausanne competition.[3] He won a scholarship and chose to attend the Royal Ballet School.[4] Upon graduation from the Royal Ballet School in 2009, Muntagirov joined English National Ballet.[1] He was promoted to first soloist in 2010, principal in 2011 and lead principal in 2012. While at the ENB, he was noted for his partnership with Daria Klimentova, which has been associated with Fonteyn and Nureyev.[5] He joined the Royal Ballet as a principal in February 2014.[2] His first performance with the Royal Ballet was as Prince Florimund in The Sleeping Beauty.[6]
