VSE employs over 2,700 people.[3] Its 2008 and 2009 annual revenues surpassed $1 billion; 2007 revenues were reported at $653 million. In December 2012, VSE announced that it would be divesting its construction management and aerospace services subsidiary, Integrated Concepts and Research Corporation (ICRC), and merging its two information technology services subsidiaries, G&B Solutions and Akimeka, LLC.[5]

As of May 2013, VSE operations are structured in to two groups and 3 wholly owned subsidiaries/LLCs.[6]

History

VSE was established in 1959 with three employees under the name "Value Services Engineering Company". In 1979, the company changed its name to VSE Corporation, ending the decade with revenues exceeding $38 million. In 1995, VSE won its first $1 billion contract, a 10-year foreign military sales contract to support U.S. Navy ship reactivation and transfer programs. In 2009 and 2010, VSE surpassed the $1 billion mark in revenues. They were named the 6th Hottest Company for 2008 by Business Week; The #1 Climbing business by the Washington Post for 2009; the #1 government contractor (small) for 2010, 2009 and 2008 by Government Executive Magazine; and the #1 Growth Company (more than $500 million) in the DC metro area by the Association for Corporate Growth in 2010; Forbes #2 Company for Job Offers (2011).
