Uttaranchal University is the premier university located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand near the Indian Military Academy. The institute was established in 2002. It has a serene and lush Green Campus Located on NH-72. The university is constituted with the merger of three educational institutions, namely Law College Dehradun (LCD), Uttaranchal Institute of Technology (UIT) and Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM).

History

The University is promoted by Sushila Devi Centre for Professional Studies and Research, a society registered under Societies Registration Act 1860.

Campus

Uttaranchal University is an educational oasis located in the pristine Doon Valley. The 70 acre University campus provides all the amenities of an urban campus. It is meticulously planned in spectacular surroundings, amidst sylvan beauty at the foothills of the Himalayas. The University is appreciated for its beautiful architecture and spacious campus. It has also been adjudged as the best infrastructure and awarded 2013 Best infrastructure award. The University is strategically located on NH-72 at Arcadia Grant, Prem Nagar, P.O. Chandanwari, Dehradun. The approximate distance from the nearest Railway Station and the ISBT are 8km and 10km respectively. The University campus consists of a series of imposing buildings, such as the academic block, laboratories, computer centre, central library, Moot Court, auditorium, guest house, shopping arcade, series of hostel buildings, the sprawling artistically landscaped lawns with rare flora. The infrastructure aids in providing the host of inputs for education and extracurricular activities.

Facilities

The University has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. Hostel is having single rooms, double rooms, three bed and four bed rooms with 24x7 electricity, Internet connectivity through Wi-Fi. Hostel common rooms are fully equipped with HD TV network, Indoor games, news papers and laundry staff.

The University has a Central library and Departmental libraries to provide Anytime, Anywhere Access to the students. Transport facility for day scholar and faculty. Medical facility is available with leading hospitals with 24x7 availability of ambulance. Banking facility is available in the campus. The library holds books, journals, databases, audio-visuals, CDs/DVDs, e-books, e-journals, reports, case studies, conference proceedings, training manuals, etc. on Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Humanities, Management and Legal studies etc.
