State University of Tetova (Albanian: Universiteti Shtetëror i Tetovës; Macedonian: Државен универзитет во Тетово), located in Tetovo, is one of four Macedonia's state universities. The university was established on 4 June 1994 as the first Albanian language higher education institution in Macedonia, though not recognized as a state university by the national government until January, 2004. The University is chaired by Dr. Vullnet Ameti. Courses and lectures are held in Albanian, Macedonian and English.

History

The State University of Tetova was founded on 4 June 1994 as the University of Tetova upon the initiative of the Albanian Cultural Society of Macedonia. The first lectures were held on 16-17 February 1995 in Poroi and Rečica.
