União Futebol Clube, common name: União de São Lourenço is a football (soccer) club that currently plays in the Fogo Island Leaguein Cape Verde. It is based in the village of Curral Grande located north of São FIlipe in the west of the island. The club are covers the whole parish of São Lourenço

History

The club was founded under the name Apolo (Apollo) in its early years. Later the club merged with another one based in the parish and became União.

The club played in Premier and Second Divisions in the 2000s. In 2013, União was in the second division and qualified into the regional promotional final and the club won the final and played in the Premier Division for the next three seasons. Their positions slowly waned, the club finished 8th for the 2013-14 season ad had 14 points, 4 wins and 12 losses, they scored 22, in wins and points, this was the last the club club had it in the Premier Division. In 2015, the club finished 9th, in the zone where a division decisional match was played, they had 9 points, 3 wins and 15 losses, they scored 9 goals and conceded 61 goals, fewer than Baxada and Parque Real. In the decisional matches, the club faced second placed Second Division team ABC de Patim, the club won the first match 1-0 and the second had a goal draw and União stayed for one more year in the Premier Division, in the 2015-16 season, the club had the same wins , an additional point which was 10 and more goals numbering 24, their worst was they finished last and conceded 74 goals, the most in the region that season and thus relegated into the Second Division for the 2016-17 season.

In the Second Division, União was first in Group A, the match of February 11 that had a huge 20-0 win over Brasilim made by Nova Era lost a position and put that club first and remained for the whole season, they shared the same 16 points but scored fewer than Nova Era's 32 goals in which União scored 13. União qualified into the final phase together with first placed Nova Era.
