Uncle Buck is an American television sitcom series based on the 1989 film of the same name starring John Candy. The TV series debuted in September 1990 on CBS, and aired through March 1991.
Synopsis
The show starred Kevin Meaney as Buck, a slob who drinks, smokes and is named the guardian of his nieces, Tia and Maizy, and nephew, Miles, after their parents, Bob (Buck's brother) and Cindy (Buck's sister-in-law), are suddenly killed in a car accident.
Critical reception
The show was panned by critics. After airing on Monday nights for two months, it was moved to Friday, in an attempt by CBS to establish a comedy night. The ratings dropped from there with strong competition from ABC's Top 20 hit Full House, and it was cancelled shortly after, having aired only 16 episodes and leaving several filmed episodes unaired.
