Tyler Butler (born July 8, 1979) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing with the Brampton Beast of the Central Hockey League.
Butler attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville where he played four seasons (1999 – 2003) of NCAA Division I hockey with the Alabama–Huntsville Chargers, scoring 21 goals and 61 assists for 82 points, and earning 170 penalty minutes in 130 games played.
During Butler's rookie season in the Central Hockey League (CHL) with the 2003–04 Amarillo Gorillas, he scored 35 points and was named a finalist for CHL Rookie of the Year.[1] Butler represented the Gorillas in the 2005 CHL All-Star Game and the Rocky Mountain Rage in the 2008 CHL All-Star Game.
On July 17, 2012, the Fort Wayne Komets signed Butler to an ECHL contract.[2] Butler would play the entire season with the Komets, picking up two goals and sixteen assists.
On October 29, 2013, it was announced Butler would return to the CHL, playing for the Brampton Beast.[3]
