Turbo Charged Prelude

The Turbo Charged Prelude for 2 Fast 2 Furious is a 2003 American short film directed by Philip G. Atwell, produced by Chris Palladino, and written by Keith Dinielli. It is the second installment in The Fast and the Furious franchise, and stars Paul Walker. Turbo Charged Prelude details the events prior to 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), where runaway fugitive Brian O'Connor leaves Los Angeles in order to evade police capture.

It was released first on June 3, 2003, and was included on special edition home releases of the first film. It was also released to select theaters to tie with the theatrical release of 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Plot

After allowing fugitive Dominic Toretto to evade arrest, Brian O'Conner leaves his home in Los Angeles in a modified Dodge Stealth after the LAPD and the FBI launch a national manhunt for his capture. While on the run, he makes a living out of winning street races in Phoenix and Albuquerque, before being forced to flee and abandon his car when local police locate it. He later manages to hitch a ride from a young woman in a Mitsubishi Eclipse, who drops him off at a used car lot in San Antonio, where he purchases a Nissan Skyline in poor condition. Brian gains a job in a garage, which also allows him to modify and restore the car to be used to participate in races.

After multiple wins, Brian takes his earnings and travels to Miami, where he meets Tej Parker, an ex-street racer who runs a top racing garage. Tej allows Brian to reside in a small cot near his garage. He later establishes himself as one of Miami's top drivers, earning the nickname Bullitt.

Cast

• Paul Walker as Brian O'Conner, a fugitive travelling across the United States on the run from the law.

The short film also features archival footage of Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto from the first film, and Peter Aylward and Rodney Neil have cameo appearances as police officers. Minka Kelly acts as the girl who gave Brian a ride to San Antonio, however, her performance is uncredited.
