The Syro-Malankara Catholic Major Archeparchy of Thiruvananthapuram is a Major Archdiocese of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in Thiruvananthapuram, India. Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis, the Major Archbishop-Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, presided over the Major Archdiocese as of 2014. The seat is at St. Mary's Malankara Syrian Catholic Cathedral, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram.

History

The Archeparchy of Thiruvananthapuram was erected in 1932. Its suffragan eparchies are those of Marthandom, Mavelikara, and Pathanamthitta.[1]

Bishops

Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis, Major Archbishop of Thiruvananthapuram and Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, was appointed Metropolitan of Thiruvananthapuram in 2007. Auxiliary Bishops Aboon Mor Samuel Irenios Kattukallil and Aboon Mor Thomas Antonios Valiyavilayil, O.I.C. were appointed in 2010.

Statistics

In 2008 the archeparchy had an estimated 250,477 faithful, in 104 parishes, with 190 diocesan priests, 64 religious priests, 142 religious brothers, 721 religious sisters, and 89 seminarians.[2]
