Trier Gospels
The Trier Gospels is an illuminated Gospel Book produced between 700 and 750, probably in Echternach Abbey. It is now held in the library of Trier Cathedral.
It was the work of two artist-scribes: one, Thomas, is known from two inscriptions in the manuscript, the other is anonymous. Thomas worked in an insular style, very similar to that of the Lindisfarne scriptorium. The anonymous artist worked in a continental Merovingian style.[1]
