The Central Antillean slider (Trachemys stejnegeri ), is a species of turtle in the family Emydidae. The species is endemic to the West Indies.

Etymology

The specific name, stejnegeri, is in honor of Norwegian-born American herpetologist Leonhard Stejneger.[4]

Geographic range

T. stejnegeri is found in Puerto Rico, Great Inagua,[5] Dominican Republic, and Haiti.[2]

Subspecies

Three subspecies are recognized as being valid, including the nominotypical subspecies.

Nota bene: A trinomial authority in parentheses indicates that the subspecies was originally described in a genus other than Trachemys.
