Towns of Belarus

According to a 1998 law,^[1] towns in Belarus are classified into three categories:

Minsk, the capital of Belarus
Towns of oblast subordination (города областного подчинения)
Towns of raion subordination (города районного подчинения)

This classification is inherited from Belarussian SSR of the Soviet Union.
