tooXclusive is a music and review website.[1] Launched in 2010 by Olutayo "Tyler" Duncan Sotubo, the website is notable for organizing its yearly "tooXclusive Online Music Awards".[2] They pride their establishment as the number one source for everything pan-African music entertainment, reviews, trending news and celebrity updates.[3]
Overview
tooXclusive was launched in 2010 by editor-in-chief Olutayo "Tyler" Duncan Sotubo. Like any proper music site,[4] they provide a complete package of music/video downloads, reviews, industry news, top 10 charts, interviews and other music related editorials. Over time since their foray into the music and entertainment blogosphere, they've succeeded in making way to owning a revered and frontline status from music lovers general entertainment practitioners.
tooXclusive in their over 6-year stint have become eponymously famed for stylized top 10 charts, music video downloads and editorial content patterned after industry happenstances. The top 10 chart is a countdown of Naija's finest in the music industry spanning different categories from Producers to Next Rated Acts, Hottest Artistes, Banging Collaborations and many more like it. The chart is put together by the TX team after much research and careful deliberation. Each chart features 10 Nigerian music acts that have excelled in specific categories and met certain criterion within a given time frame. Raising the stakes in the game, tooXclusive embarked on issuing out editorial content that included spotlight profile of buzzing artistes, their materials (music and videos) to even critical reviews of albums, EPs and mixtapes released by these artistes. This feat has continued to drive a conversation between diehard fan parties who are staunch believers in the movement of the very many music celebrities that the industry has produced. Often times, tooXclusive has come under serious heat sometimes leading to spiteful backlashes for having shared a writer's opinion in perspective on how these artistes enact their music propaganda.[5]
tooXclusive Ghana
tooXclusive Ghana (or tooXclusive GH) is a branch out of tooXclusive.com which caters specifically for the needs of the fast growing Ghanaian music industry. The site features a comprehensive profile of Ghana's music acts, their songs, music videos and other entertainment related stuff – with a dash of Naija content of course!
Talking to Duncan Sotubo, CEO of tooXclusive he said… "The aim of tooxclusive from its inception has always been to be the biggest music distribution platform all over Africa and after a successful 4 years in Nigeria, we're convinced that we can comfortably branch out, offering our foremost and indigenous brand to other African Countries."[6]
tooXclusive Music Awards
The #TxOMA has become the most talked about happenstance on the blogosphere, being the first of its kind as far as online awards is concerned. TooXclusive's status as a leading website for music and entertainment content in Africa, undoubtedly puts them in the best position to dish out accolades to deserving artistes and brands that have performed exceptionally well in a specified year under review.
The recent edition turned out to be the most impressive in the last four years based on feedback from fans and artistes nationwide. Not only were the likes of Vanessa Mdee, Stonebwoy and Diamond Platnumz recognized on this platform, superstar acts like Vector, Yemi Alade, Seyi Shay, YCEE and Olamide[7] showed their gratitude on various social media platforms for receiving custom-design award plaques that were presented to them at their individual abodes. The tooXclusive award holds exclusively online, with votes being cast via the website platform.[8]
