Tom Maayan (Hebrew: תום מעיין; born July 5, 1993) is an Israeli professional basketball player for Bnei Herzliya of the Israeli Premier League. He played college basketball for Seton Hall.
Early life
Maayan was born in Montreal, Canada, he lived his first 3 years in Canada before settling in Israel. Maayan played for Hapoel Galil Elyon youth team, he also played for Emek Hahula High School team and helped them to win the state championship in 2011.
In 2011, Prior to college, Maayan joined the Canarias Basketball Academy based in the Canary Islands, Spain.
College Career
As a freshman at Seton Hall in 2012–13, Maayan played 33 games as he averaged 1.8 points and 3.1 assists and 1.4 steals by playing 21.5 minutes per game. As a sophomore in 2013–14, Maayan played 10 games as he averaged 2.4 points and 2.7 assists by playing 15.5 minutes per game.
However, On November 19, 2013, Maayan was forced to return to Israel for army service and his college career has ended. [1]
Professional Career
On December 18, 2013, Maayan signed a five-year contract with Hapoel Jerusalem. [2]
On August 6, 2015, Maayan parted ways with Jerusalem and signed a two-year deal with Bnei Herzliya [3]
On February 8, 2017, Maayan signed a two-year contract extension with Herzliya. [4]
Israel National Team
Maayan was a member of the Israeli U-18 [5] and U-20[6] national teams and also participate at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics.
