Time in New Hampshire

Currently, New Hampshire uses the Eastern Time Zone with Daylight saving time. However, since sunset can occur as early as 4:30 PM, the state is considering switching to Atlantic Standard Time without DST. The bill passed the state's House of Representatives,[1] and if it passes the state's Senate, it can be signed by the governor. If signed, the state will use the Atlantic Time Zone year round. Maine and Massachusetts are considering doing the same.

Without daylight saving time, solar noon is about 11:57 PM in southwestern New Hampshire and 11:50 AM in southeastern New Hampshire. New England, which includes New Hampshire, is one of the few areas in the United States where solar noon is before noon. Both of these times get shifted later by one hour during Dayling Savings Time.[2] [3] Because solar noon is earlier than most of the rest of the country, and New Hampshire is at a high latitude, sunset can be earlier than in most states.
