Thomas McDonnell (bishop)
Thomas McDonnell BA BD STL DD (1912-1987) was an Irish priest who served as Bishop of Killala.
He entered St. Patrick's College, Maynooth in 1930 earning a BA(Hons) in Classics from the National University of Ireland, and BD. Two of his classmates in Maynooth at the time were the future Cardinal Conway and future Bishop Patrick Mulligan. He entered the Dunboyne institute and was awarded a STL in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University.
He was ordained a priest in 1937. In 1939 he was awarded a Doctorate of Divinity.[1]
Dr McDonnell was appointed Bishop of Killala in 1970 holding the post until 1987.
He died almost a year after resigning as bishop in 1987.[2]
