This Will Be the Death of Us is the second studio album by American rock band Set Your Goals, released July 21, 2009 on Epitaph Records.
Background
In May 2008, the band posted "The Fallen..." online. On August 18, it was announced that the band was bought out of their contract with independent label Eulogy Recordings for $125,000. In the same announcement, it was revealed that the band was in the process of writing their next album.[7] While still in the writing process, it was announced on October 30 that guitarist Dan Coddaire had re-joined the group after initially leaving in 2006.[8]
Recording
The album was produced by Mike Green (Paramore, The Matches)[9] and is their debut on Epitaph Records after their manager reportedly paid their previous label, Eulogy Recordings, to buy out their contract.[10] Recording was completed in late March.[11]
The album features various guest vocals including Vinnie Caruana of I Am the Avalanche and The Movielife on opener and title track, "This Will Be the Death of Us". Hayley Williams of Paramore also features on "The Few That Remain", whilst ex-vocalist of Turmoil Jon Gula is featured on "Gaia Bleeds (Make Way For Man)". The album is closed with the 90s skate punk influenced "Our Ethos: A Legacy to Pass On", featuring vocals from New Found Glory’s Chad Gilbert.[9] Jordan Pundik, also of New Found Glory provides vocals on the Japanese bonus track "The Lost Boys".[12]
Release
In late March, it was revealed that the album would be released in late July.[11] Between late March and early May, the band supported New Found Glory on their headlining tour of the US.[13] On March 24, it was announced that the band had signed to independent label Epitaph Records.[14] The band appeared at The Bamboozle festival in early May.[15] In late May, the band went on a brief tour of Japan with All Time Low.[16] In early June, the band toured Australia as part of the Take Action Tour.[17] In July, the band went on a tour of the US with Four Year Strong, Fireworks, the Swellers and Grave Maker.[18] While on the tour, This Will Be the Death of Us was released on July 21. Further dates were added, extending the tour into late August.[19] Between late September and mid-November, the band supported on Mayday Parade on the AP Fall Ball Tour.[20] In February and March 2010, the band performed at Soundwave festival in Australia.[21] Between late June and early August, the band performed on Warped Tour.[22]
