The Used is the self-titled debut studio album by American rock band The Used.
Release
It was released on June 25, 2002 and has since been certified Gold in the United States.[3] Between late June and mid-August, the group went on the 2002 edition of Warped Tour.[4] "Buried Myself Alive" was released to radio on January 28, 2003.[5] "Blue and Yellow" was released to radio on May 20.[5] From June to August 2003, the group went on the 2003 edition of Warped Tour.[6]
The Used was mastered using HDCD technology. Although it is unmarked, playing the album in a CD player able to decode HDCD will give superior sound quality.

Upon its release, the album received rave reviews from critics, with praise being directed primarily to the instrumentation. The album has since become recognized as a landmark album of the emocore and screamo genres.[1] Many bands such as Escape the Fate, Crown the Empire and A Static Lullaby have cited the album as a major influence on their sounds. NME listed the album as one of "20 Emo Albums That Have Resolutely Stood The Test Of Time".[9]

Additional track information
The Used recorded 14 songs during the self titled recording session. The 2 b-sides from the session are titled "Choke Me" and "Just a Little". "Choke Me" was released as a hidden track on the album and later on Shallow Believer. "Just a Little" was released as a Japan bonus track and later on The Taste of Ink single and Maybe Memories. The Used had 2 other songs from their demo titled "Zero Mechanism" and "It Could be a Good Excuse" which were not re-recorded during the self titled session.
