The Shadow of Weng-Chiang is an original novel written by David A. McIntee and based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It is a sequel to the 1977 serial The Talons of Weng-Chiang, featuring the Fourth Doctor, the first Romana, and K-9 Mark II.

Plot

The hunt for the fourth segment of the Key to Time brings the TARDIS crew to 1930s Shanghai: the Tongs pursue their own agenda in the city's illegal clubs, while the Japanese Empire looms in the background. Manipulated by an mysterious enemy, the Doctor must follow the Dragon Path - a side effect of a terrible experiment from the future. And who is the beautiful Hsien-Ko and the small child that accompanies her?
