Marketing
Action figure and Snorkel set
A scuba diving action figure featuring removable mask, fins, wet-suit, scuba tank, and horse collar Buoyancy compensator (diving) was produced for the film. In addition a Snorkel set consisting of a mask, snorkel and fins were made.
Legacy
The Coen Brothers have referenced the film as a major influence on their later work. In particular, the character Jim "Kraken" Jones was a role model for the character Anton Chigurh in the movie No Country for Old Men. It also helped to popularize the phrase, "Tijuana oil job".
