The Liar and His Lover (Hangul: 그녀는 거짓말을 너무 사랑해; RR: Geunyeoneun Geojitmaleul Neomu Saranghae; lit. She Loves Lie So Much) is a South Korean television series starring Lee Hyun-woo and Joy with Lee Jung-jin, Lee Seo-won and Hong Seo-young. The drama is based on the Japanese manga Kanojo wa Uso o Aishisugiteru by Kotomi Aoki. It airs on tvN every Monday and Tuesday at 23:00 (KST) starting from March 20, 2017.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Synopsis
A love story between a genius music composer Kang Han-Gyul for the Crude Play, who writes hit songs after going through many breakups (Lee Hyun-woo) and a high school student, Yoon So-Rim (Joy).
So-Rim has fallen in love with Han-Gyul at first sight and has made up her mind to find him and confess to him. Through many encounters, Han-Gyul at first rejected So-Rim due to her age and due to the fact that they both don't know each other.
However, with her beautiful voice and pure young heart, Han-Gyul falls in love with So-Rim. For So-Rim, her life changes completely after meeting with Han-Gyul, her voice gets her into a music industry with her two childhood friends and forms a band called Mush&Co. The bass player of the famous Crude Play, Seo Chan-Young becomes the producer of their band and also falls in love with So-Rim.[7][8]

- A former bass player who used to be a member of Crude Play, but quits right before the band made its debut. This was due to the fact that he realizes he is not the best bass player as he thought he was. He works behind-the-scenes as the band's music producer under the name "K". He was in a relationship with Yoo-na but he gets dumped one day. He later falls in love with So-rim who makes him happy and shows him that music is not the only thing in life.
- An eighteen year-old high school student who possesses a gifted voice. She is in a band "Mush & Co" with her two childhood friends. Her parents died when she was little, and she now resides with her grandmother who runs a store called " Happy Fruits and Vegetables". She helps her grandmother by delivering orders to customers, which is how she accidentally met and fell in love at first sight with Han-Gyul.
- Lee Jung-jin as Choi Jin-hyuk
- Director of Sole Music. He has been in love with Yoo-na from the beginning and was waiting for her. He makes rash decisions to prove to the CEO that he is better than her. He doesn't realize that these rash decisions hurts people around him and to the Sole Music company.
- Lee Seo-won as Seo Chan-young[12]
- A bass player who replaced Han-Gyul in Crude Play. He feels he is never part of the group and feels that Han-Gyul takes everything from him. This causes him to despise Han-Gyul. In addition, he is also the producer for So-rim's band, as a result of falling for her.
- Hong Seo-young as Chae Yoo-na[13]
- Han-Gyul's ex-girlfriend. A singer who is criticized by the media for using her body to gain fame. Her feelings for Han-Gyul never went away even after they broke up.

Production
The drama's director Kim Jin-min is known for his hit dramas Time Between Dog and Wolf and Marriage Contract.[15] The production company Bon Factory also produced The Greatest Love, You're Beautiful, Master's Sun and She Was Pretty.[16]
The drama marks girl group member Joy's acting debut.[17]
First script reading took place on January 21, 2017 and second script reading, featuring the main cast took place on February 8, 2017 at CJ E&M Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul, South Korea.[18]
