The National High School Musical Theatre Awards, more commonly known as the Jimmy Awards, is an awards ceremony that recognizes excellence of student performers representing various professional theatres in the United States.[2] Two awards are given each year, Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor. Winners are selected by a panel of industry experts.
History
The Jimmy Awards were found in 2009 and are named in honor of the late James M. Nederlander, a well-known live theatre owner, Broadway producer (earning him 11 Tony Awards), and former chairman of the Nederlander Organization.[2][3]
