The James Monroe (named after James Monroe) is a 312-foot-tall (95-m) residential skyscraper in Newport, Jersey City, New Jersey. It was completed in 1989 and has 34 floors and 4 elevators. It is the 26th tallest building in the city, and was Newport's first condo. Its maintenance bills are less expensive than those at Newport's newer Shore Club as well as having lower selling prices. As of 2016 it is going through major lobby renovations, a name change, and a roof deck hoping to bring up the value.
