The Florida Project is a 2017 American drama film directed by Sean Baker, from a screenplay by Baker and Chris Bergoch. It stars Bria Vinaite, Brooklynn Prince, Valeria Cotto and Willem Dafoe. It was screened in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. It is scheduled to be released in a limited release on October 6, 2017, by A24.

Production
In April 2016, it was announced Sean Baker would direct and produce the film, from a screenplay by himself and Chris Bergoch. Bergoch would also produce the film, alongside Andrew Duncan, Alex Saks, Kevin Chinoy and Francesca Silvestri under their June Pictures and Freestyle Picture Company banners, respectively.[2] In July 2016, Willem Dafoe joined the cast of the film.[3] In September 2016, Caleb Landry Jones joined the cast of the film.[4] In February 2017, Brooklynn Prince and Bria Vinaite also joined the cast of the film.[5]
Release
It had its world premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival in the Directors Fortnight section on May 22, 2017.[6][7] Shortly after, A24 acquired U.S. distribution rights to the film.[8] It is scheduled to be released in a limited release on October 6, 2017.[9]
Critical reception
The Florida Project received positive reviews from film critics. It holds a 100% approval rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, based on 22 reviews, with a weighted average of 9.2/10.[10] On Metacritic, the film holds a rating of 91 out of 100, based on 9 critics, indicating "universal acclaim".[11]
